Not in a while. It was used more when I first set it up. If it became a popular thing, I could make it so that the chat feature shows up in the sidebar on every page so you can see if people are on while surfing the site. Eventually, I think it would be cool to set up chat times, like 7 PM pacific time everyone get on and talk about the new movie Inkheart, or something like that.
Yeah, same when I first re-built my sites. I had a small, but devote chat following from the t-shirt side of my life, and were kind enough to try and keep up with my new ventures. I'd have it open, while I worked online. But, I had to launch this new rhinestone gig, and had to focus on the biz. Now, that I am kinda past that one, I am *allowed* to get back to everything scif, fantasy and horror related stuff.
I wanted to point out that the chat feature is different now. Instead of being in a tab up on the top, it's in a bar at the bottom of your screen on every page of the network. If you look, it should say "Fantasy Fanspace (2 (or however many) members online)" And there will be an upward pointing arrow-if you click that arrow the chat will pop out into a window for you to use. Next to that there is a "go offline" button that will make you appear offline to other members of fantasy fanspace- but if you do that, you'll have to click "go online" again the next time you want to be online (no matter how many times you login, it will stay at whatever you put it until you change it)
I'm thinking we need to perhaps schedule live chat sessions, so as to set up maximal usage. For instance, how about next week during Dollhouse/BSG, we schedule some people to discuss it? I'll be available at 9 pm Pacific, for example. Anybody interested?
I DVR all my genre (scifi, fantasy, horror) shows, and watch em after the rest of the house goes to sleep sometime after 9:30pm Pacific. So, I can try to make it.
With everyone scattered around the country, it'll make it difficult to watch these live, at the same time. I know it must be frustrating for our hosts here to have to wait an entire day to watch Legend of the Seeker.
Now ... in an ideal world, we'd all have em recorded and coordinate a time to watch them together ...
"Ready ... Set ... PLAY" ;)
P.S. Another idea to throw out here ... what if a website did a mock book-club-ish thing, where you'd pick a cool fantasy DVD to have everyone watch at the same time and chat during it? (don't mind me, just thinkin' out loud)
That would actually be kind of cool. We could do some sort of round-robin thing where each month, someone picks a new DVD, and then we pull up the chat, and live-chat the whole thing.
