Sympathy for the Devil 5.01 *Spoilers*
Well, the Devil is out and has taken some poor "chosen" meatbag for his Human form to bring on Armageddon. The conspiring Angels tried to convince Dean (also chosen) to become The Sword of the Archangel Michael, after killing the Angel Castiel ... but God (never said, but implied) stepped up and brought Castiel back. The wicked Demon Meg has returned, and tried to kill Dean. Bobby winds up being unable to walk, and Dean has made it pretty clear that he no longer trusts Sam ... after Sam defied his older brother, and unleashed the end of the world by letting Lucifer out.
It is rumered this will be the final season, but after the ratings came in, and with the AWESOME premiere of The Vampire Diaries as it's new lead-in ... this was like a goldmine for CW's Thursday night. So, we might get a sixth season (since we only got this Season 5, due to the ratings after Season 4).
While I don't believe God will take form in the show, I do think Dean will eventually come around to become the Archangel Michael's vessel. I wonder if the Archangel Gabriel will also make an appearance ... what do y'all think?

Supernatural has ALWAYS been about to be canceled. We've ended most seasons not knowing if the show would return. It's really up in the air, I think.
Oh yeah, I don't think God will take form in the show, I mean, the angels don't even see him. I'm not sure if Dean will become Michael's vessel, it would be interesting...but I'd miss having Dean's attitude around, so if they do it, I don't think they'll do it long.

I agree ... I don't think they would use Michael, unless it was some dramatic last resort. It would be a way to end a season or the series. The creators did always have a 5-year plan (proven sweet spot) for this series, but ratings = money more than any outcry from dedicated fans.

I LOVED this premiere. Dean's lines were the best.
"Stuff it...with walnuts!"
As much as I don't want Dean to be an "Angel condom" (yet another great Dean quote), I really want to see some crazy ass Angel smackdown. They keep teasing us with Chuck being protected by his Archangel, but we never really get to see anything great in person. I mean, he BLEW UP Castiel, but we get nothing but Chuck picking his molar out of his hair. I hope we do get to see Michael in action just for a little while.
Also, I want to be all big about it and say "End the show at season five like Kripke meant it to." but I can't. I love our boys way to much to be able to say goodbye without bitterness. I just hope that the writers get time to think of some good stuff and don't have to rush something on the air and make the show suck.

HAHA! You remembered all those cool quotes I had forgotten! I made notes during the premiere of The Vampire Diaries, but haven't for my existing fav shows.
I like the paths this series has taken, so I don't think they will fubar it now. However, I have noticed for myself ... I am getting tired of the constant whining between the two brothers. By that, I don't mean the playful brother bickering ... just the kinda whining about each other.
oooOOO, next up: GOOD GOD Y'ALL
Castiel goes looking for God (hmm, maybe we will meet Him), while the boys help out a fellow hunter buddy of Booby's whose town has gone a lil wacky.
