- Anything with a good story - and there are a lot of those out there! The Black Company "The White Rose" trilogy by Glen Cook is great. Christopher Paolini is amazing - his blend of pacing, detail, action, and characterization is stunning. I can hardly wait to see what he does next! Stephen King - naturally. Dean Koontz. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. I really enjoyed "The Rise of Darth Vader" by James Luceno - I would like to see THAT movie. Richard Matheson - a Master! 'I Am Legend' is quite possibly the best read of my life yet. Alan Dean Foster. Kevin J. Anderson. Timothy Zahn. Robert Heinlein - 'Starship Troopers' is an amazing book. Tad Williams. L. hehe, I thought the favorite fantasy character question would trip a lot of people up-a LOT of people on here have answered it though and I LOVE seeing people's answers! I'm pretty proud of that question :) You should poke around at some of the people's favorite's-the variety is impressive.
