You can definitely finish that novel! I think the key to writing a first novel is to give yourself permission to write badly. Don't even stop and search for that perfect word or turn of phrase, just keep typing. Don't even feel you must reread it right away. Let it sit a couple weeks and work on something else. Then you can come back and drum up the hope that one day you will finish editing and rewriting your novel.
The real magic is in the editing :)
If you need any inspiration, just give a shout. I'll be happy to give it a go.
I didn't discover fantasy until my early twenties and Tolkien was my first. When I met my husband and went to his parents house, I remember I walked up these long stairs and at the top was a floor to ceiling bookcase crammed with fantasy paperbacks. I thought I have to marry this man. I married him, read all his books and am always looking for more, books that is.
